Godot

LoreOwl finds your Godot, builds your project headlessly, and adds a Vault dock to the editor.

What LoreOwl does with it

Finds or downloads Godot

It looks in the usual folders, and can download the version your project needs, including .NET builds.

New projects

2D, 3D and blank templates, from Godot 4.0 up.

Headless builds

Godot exports a copy of your project. Your own folder is never touched.

Every build option

Analytics, the in-game feedback form, GDMaim obfuscation and pre-build scene checks.

A Vault dock

Browse the vault beside the FileSystem dock. Install it from the Addons page in the app.

Presets checked first

LoreOwl reads export_presets.cfg before it copies anything, so a missing preset fails in a second.

Export presets

Create them in Godot's Export dialog. The names must match exactly.

Windows
Windows Desktop, builds an .exe
Linux
Linux, builds an .x86_64
Web
Web. Coming soon.

LoreOwl runs godot --headless --export-release with the preset, or --export-debug when you tick Debug build.

The details

Detected by
project.godot
Vault assets go to
res://imported/
Left out of builds
.godot, .import and build output folders. The import cache is copied back in, so the export does not reimport everything.
Not versioned
.godot/, *.import, .mono/ and exported builds, from the .loreignore every new project gets.
Time limit
An export stops after five minutes.

What it does not do

  • Builds for Windows and Linux. Web is coming soon. No macOS, mobile or console.
  • Presets are yours to create. LoreOwl does not write them.
  • Your own GdUnit4 tests are not run. Checks are a scene walk plus your own rules.
  • The desktop app is Windows only.
