Substance 3D Painter
Export your texture sets with a Painter preset and upload every map to the vault.
How it works
The LoreOwl panel docks on the right of Painter.
- 01
Pick an export preset
From Painter's built-in presets. A PBR metallic roughness preset is picked first when there is one.
- 02
Export and upload textures
Every texture set is exported as 8-bit PNG to a temporary folder. Your own export folder is not touched.
- 03
Each map becomes an asset
Named after the project and the file, for example
MyProject_Head_BaseColor, so two projects never collide.
Sign in once, in the app
No pairing code to type and no token to paste.
When you sign in to the LoreOwl desktop app, it writes a short-lived credential to a file in your user profile, and the Painter panel reads it. Sign out and it is removed.
- No refresh token is stored, so the file only ever holds a short-lived access token
- Written in one step, so a host never reads half a file
- Every host integration uses the same credential, so one sign-in covers all of them
Installing it
From the Integrations page in the LoreOwl app. It finds the app's settings folder for you.
- What it installs
loreowl_substanceinDocuments\Adobe\Adobe Substance 3D Painter\python\plugins.- Versions
- Substance 3D Painter 10 and later. Tested on 11.0.
- Then
- Restart Substance 3D Painter.
- In the Python menu, make sure “loreowl_substance” is enabled.
- The panel docks on the right. Reopen it from Window → Views.
- Custom locations
- Add a folder by hand, for example a portable install. Folders you add stay after a rescan.
- Uninstalling
- Removes only what the install added.
What it does not do
- Exports every texture set. You cannot pick just one.
- Uses Painter's built-in presets, not presets you saved yourself.
- Maps are uploaded as 8-bit PNG.
- No browsing or importing from the vault inside Painter.
- Windows only, because the desktop app that signs it in is.
