Unity
LoreOwl finds your Unity editors, builds players headlessly, and adds a Vault window to the editor.
What LoreOwl does with it
Finds your editors
Unity Hub's editor folders, including a second install folder set in Hub. A missing version can be installed through Hub.
Respects the project's version
It reads ProjectVersion.txt, and will not open a project in a newer Unity, because that upgrades it for good.
New projects
2D, 3D and blank templates, from Unity 2021.3 up. No Hub sign-in needed to create one.
Headless builds
For Windows, Linux and macOS, from a copy of your project.
Analytics
Tick Analytics and the LoreOwl Analytics package is added to the build copy.
A Vault window
Window → LoreOwl → Vault, in Unity 2021.3 and later.
The build
- How it runs
- Unity in batch mode, calling
LoreOwl.HeadlessBuilder.Build, a build script added to the copy only. - Scenes
- The scenes enabled in File → Build Settings.
- Success
- Only when the script reports success. Unity can exit cleanly after a failed build, so the exit code is not trusted.
- Licence
- If Unity has no active licence, the build stops and tells you to sign in to Unity Hub.
- Left out of builds
Library,Temp,Obj,Logs,UserSettingsand build folders.- Time limit
- A build stops after 30 minutes.
Version control
- .meta files are versioned with their assets
- Library, Temp, Logs, UserSettings and build folders are ignored
- Vault assets go to
Assets/Imported/. Open Unity once, then commit each asset with its .meta
What it does not do
- No Android, iOS or console builds. Web is coming soon.
- No feedback form, obfuscation or pre-build checks. Those are Godot only.
- A missing platform module is not caught before the build starts.
- The desktop app is Windows only.
