Terms of Service

The agreement for your LoreOwl account and the cloud services.

Last updated September 26, 2026·Also read End User License Agreement and Privacy Policy

The short version. You own your work and your team’s work belongs to your organization. We host it only to run LoreOwl for you. Paid plans renew until you cancel. Your players’ data is yours to look after, and ours to process for you. Use LoreOwl lawfully, and keep your own copy of anything important.

1.The agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and LoreOwl (“we”, “us”). They cover your LoreOwl account and the LoreOwl cloud services: sync and version control, the Vault, builds and publishing, analytics, feedback, notifications and the website (together, the “Service”).

The desktop app is licensed to you under the End User License Agreement, and how we handle personal information is described in the Privacy Policy. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms and the EULA.

If you use LoreOwl for a company or studio, you agree on its behalf and confirm that you are allowed to.

2.Your account

You must be at least 18 to use LoreOwl. Give us accurate details and keep your email account secure: signing in to LoreOwl only needs a code sent to your email, so anyone with access to your inbox can sign in as you. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at support@loreowl.com if you think someone else has used it.

3.Organizations and roles

Work in LoreOwl belongs to an organization. The person who creates an organization is its owner. Owners manage the organization’s members, projects, connected services and billing, and can add other owners.

Content that members add to an organization belongs to the organization, not to the member who added it. When a member leaves or deletes their account, their work stays with the organization. Owners can remove members at any time.

4.Plans and billing

  • The Solo plan is free. Paid plans are billed in advance through Polar, which acts as our merchant of record and handles payment, invoices and sales tax. Polar’s terms apply to the payment itself.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until an owner cancels them in the billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and the organization moves to the Solo plan.
  • Fees are not refunded for partial periods, except where the law requires it.
  • Each plan has limits, such as members, storage and how long analytics are kept. When an organization is over a limit, some actions stop working until it is back under the limit or upgrades. The current limits are on our pricing page.
  • We tell owners at least 30 days before a price change applies to them.
  • Enterprise terms are agreed separately in writing. Where those terms conflict with these, those terms win.

5.Your content

You keep all rights to what you store in LoreOwl: projects, code, assets, builds, documents and issues (“your content”). You give us permission to host, copy, process, transmit and display your content only as needed to run the Service for you, for example to sync it to your teammates or to publish a build you asked us to publish. This permission ends when your content is deleted, apart from copies kept briefly in backups.

We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not look at it except to provide support you ask for, to keep the Service secure, or when the law requires it.

You are responsible for having the rights to your content, including licenses for third-party assets, fonts, music and code you upload or ship.

Keep your own copies. LoreOwl stores your version history and files with care, but you should keep a copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.

6.Your games and your players

If you turn on Analytics or Feedback in a game, the game sends data about its players to LoreOwl. You are responsible for that collection: tell your players what the game collects, get their consent where the law requires it, give them a way to opt out, and answer their requests to access or delete their data. We process that data only to provide the Service to you, as described in the Privacy Policy.

Do not use LoreOwl to collect sensitive information about players, such as health data or precise location, or to collect data from children without the consent the law requires. If you need a data processing agreement, email support@loreowl.com.

7.Third-party services

LoreOwl works with services we do not run: game engines such as Godot, Unity and Unreal Engine, stores such as Steam, itch.io and the Epic Games Store, Discord, Slack, Google, Git hosts and your own cloud storage. Your use of them is governed by their terms, and we are not responsible for them.

When you give LoreOwl credentials for one of these services, we use them only to do what you ask, such as uploading a build. You can remove them at any time.

8.Add-ons

Add-ons marked as official are made by LoreOwl and licensed under the EULA. Add-ons marked as community are made by other people and come with their own licenses. We check community add-ons before listing them, but we do not guarantee them. You are responsible for following their licenses in the games you ship.

9.Acceptable use

Do not use LoreOwl to:

  • break the law or infringe anyone’s rights, including copyright;
  • store or distribute malware, or content that exploits or harms children;
  • harass people, or send spam, including through invitations;
  • get around plan limits, security or access controls, or access another organization’s data;
  • overload the Service, for example by load testing it or using it for crypto mining or as general file hosting unrelated to game development;
  • resell or sublicense the Service without our written permission.

10.Changes to the Service

We improve LoreOwl all the time, which means features change. Features marked as preview or beta may change or be removed without notice. If we remove a significant paid feature, we tell owners in advance and, where the removal means you no longer get what you paid for, refund the unused part of the period.

11.Suspension and termination

You can stop using LoreOwl and delete your account at any time from the app. Deleting an account is described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or close an account or organization that breaks these terms, does not pay, or puts the Service or other users at risk. Unless the problem is serious or the law prevents it, we tell you first and give you a reasonable chance to fix it or to download your content.

Sections on your content, disclaimers, liability, indemnity and governing law continue to apply after the agreement ends.

12.Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will meet your requirements. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, so some of them may not apply to you.

13.Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, LoreOwl is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim about the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and 100 US dollars.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud.

14.Indemnity

If someone makes a claim against LoreOwl because of your content, your games, how you handled your players’ data, or your breach of these terms, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of that claim, including legal fees.

15.Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We change the date at the top when we do. For significant changes, we tell you in the app or by email before they take effect, and the app asks you to accept the new version. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and delete your account.

16.Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes are decided by the competent courts in India, unless the law of the country you live in gives you the right to bring a claim where you live.

17.General

  • These terms, the EULA and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and LoreOwl about the Service.
  • If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  • You cannot transfer this agreement without our permission. We may transfer it as part of a sale or merger of LoreOwl.
  • We send notices to the email address on your account.
